COPD Information & Help

What is COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)?

COPD is a chronic lung condition that progressively makes breathing difficult. It is also known as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. In individuals with COPD, the airways—tubes that facilitate the flow of air into and out of the lungs—are partially obstructed, hindering airflow.

Severe COPD can interfere with basic activities due to symptoms like shortness of breath, impacting tasks such as light housework, walking, and even personal care.

Our practice aims to see patients diagnosed with COPD at least once a year. Depending on the severity of your condition, more frequent visits may be necessary to provide the appropriate level of care.

Patients with advanced COPD might be invited for a biannual Spirometry test, allowing the healthcare provider to evaluate your treatment and offer the best medication options.
